Epic Games unveils Fab, a unified digital content marketplace, laying the foundation for the future of an interoperable Metaverse.

Fab is the ultimate digital hub where creators can explore, purchase, sell, and share fashion-tech assets—now officially live.

Epic's long-term vision is to lead the evolution of the metaverse—a next-generation, immersive digital space that merges multiple experiences within a unified spatial framework. Over time, Epic aims to transition from merely empowering developers to create their own games, to becoming a key architect of this expansive metaverse.

The strategy is rooted in building scalable, interoperable infrastructure that consolidates various digital marketplaces into a single destination. This will allow seamless integration of tools and services, with the ultimate goal of connecting diverse metaverse platforms. By doing so, Epic sets the stage for cross-platform collaboration and a truly open metaverse.

Interoperability remains central to this vision, ensuring users can navigate and interact across different ecosystems. To that end, Epic plans to support various game engines and asset formats, including Godot, Roblox, and Minecraft. Through its community-driven marketplace Fab, the company will offer a comprehensive platform for all digital content needs.

Epic is only at the beginning of its journey. In the coming months, it will introduce new content, enhance the user experience, and roll out features such as MetaHumans and expanded file formats. These additions will shape the future of digital creativity and pave the way for a more interconnected metaverse.
As the evolution of the Unreal Engine Marketplace and Sketchfab Store, Fab also becomes the new home for Quixel Megascans. This open marketplace caters to creators across various platforms, providing digital content for Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), and other design tools used in fashion-tech innovation. Unreal Engine developers can now seamlessly access Fab directly within Unreal Engine 5, while Fortnite creators will discover ready-to-use assets through Fab in UEFN.

Currently, Fab integration in UEFN is undergoing maintenance, but it will be back online soon. The integration within the Unreal Engine 5 Editor is also on its way, empowering fashion-tech creatives to streamline asset sourcing for their immersive digital environments. Fab sets a new standard for the intersection of fashion, technology, and digital content creation.
