VALENTINO HAS APPOINTED FORMER GUCCI DESIGNER AS ITS NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR

OLD FASHION SYSTEM
Valentino has appointed former Gucci designer Alessandro Michele as its new creative director, announced the Roman couture house on Thursday. Michele's debut show for the brand is scheduled for Paris Fashion Week in September.

This announcement resolves one of the fashion industry's most pressing questions for over a year: the destination of Alessandro Michele, a prominent figure in the industry, following his departure from Gucci.

Contrary to speculation, Michele will not be joining LVMH, the fashion conglomerate, but will instead join Mayhoola for Investments, backed by the Qatari royal family, which also holds Balmain and Pal Zileri.

Last week, Pierpaolo Piccioli, who had been with Valentino for 25 years and served as its sole creative director for 8 years, departed from the house. As a result, Valentino will not present menswear or haute couture collections in June.
